On Wednesday 10th June 2009 we launched the Conquering the Web Competition. It offers a detailed e-commerce website, google adwords paid for plus management, international telephony and legal services which in total comes to a value of €15,000.
Why did we do this? Both myself and my business partner(and other type..) are foreigners to the region where we set up our business a few years ago. We were both re-building our lives after respective marriage break ups, and without anything but one friend in the area we decided to move to Andalucia. Since then we have had support from the local government here, given training courses and in general worked hard, have been lucky but without help our lives wouldn't be as they are today. I am Irish and he is Portuguese. We wanted to have chance to give something back.
On and off for a few months we brainstormed how this idea could work and when we had developed it we contacted some of the people we know here. From there we have had the launch press conference on Wednesday last which went very well, and there are still a couple more interviews coming up. The funny thing is that we did not expect this type of interest.
What we want is for people to have more hope, feel more positive and learn that there are possibilities. Andalucia is a region which is not well developed regarding internet.
There is a feel good factor about doing something that has a positive effect on others. Maybe this stretches back to when we were part of tribes and we are helping our fellow tribes people. We can have a lot of ideas about the psychology of giving, but I reckon these days its almost an emergency situation because so many peoples' lives have been turned upside down.

Law Of Attraction and Giving
Some of you may be familiar with the Law of Attraction and others not. The simplest way to define it is to say that "like attracts like." It is mostly used for people who want to improve their financial life, romantic life, train their mind to generate more positive thought patterns, communicate better and so on.
So whatever you focus your energy on you will attract whether it is wanted or unwanted. This is one of many reasons that negative thought patterns are damaging. People who engage in complaining about little things can eventually set up automatic negative thought patterns before they even realise it. Negative thoughts cause stress and if you believe in this principle they attract more negativity.
There is always someone worse off than ourselves. This is not a bad thing to hold in your mind to catapult you away from negative thought patterns. If you practice this over time more than likely you will start to appreciate your life more, and this is moving over that line from negativity to positivity. Gratitude is super important in creating positivity.
You may not feel it but you are a living magnet. If you start to do something small to help an other person, without hoping for something back in return, you have a good chance of detaching for some time at least from any of your own stresses, making it a win-win situation.

So you don't know where to start in giving something small to other people to cheer them up, start with a smile. The funny thing is that most of the time it will be mirrored back to you, and is contagious and having this cool knock-on effect. Depending on where you live and work, culturally and sociably, the experiment of smiling at others can seem easier or more difficult. Even so everyone likes to be liked and feel happy, so a smile goes a long way and doesn't cost any money.
Try it out and see the effect. What will happen is you'll end up feeling better yourself anyhow, which gives you more energy to deal with your life. It is also more difficult to continue to feel stressed if you smile frequently.
An interesting story about sincere smilers - there was a yearbook with photos of young ladies, and their smiles were evaluated as sincere or not. Their lives were then tracked and it turned out that many years later the real smilers had overwhelmingly had happier lives.

Conquering The Web Competition
Search Engine Marketing Co. & Partners Launch “Conquering The Web” Competition Prize Value €15,000
CWA Europe announced an open competition for an Andalucian company with the right potential to win an e-commerce, telephony and legal package with an estimated value of €15,000.
The competition is aimed at companies in Andalucia, Spain, a region which is underdeveloped in ecommerce.
In a press conference in the press room of the Andalucian Government, on 10th June 2009, the first ever “Conquering The Web” competition was announced.
CWA Europe directors, Joao Alves (Portuguese) and Jackie De Burca (Irish), wanted to find a way to put something back into the Spanish community who has helped make their business what it is today. Many Andalucian companies have very little understanding of ecommerce and by setting up this competition CWA Europe believe it will encourage positivity and educate people in Andalucia about the potential of making money from e-commerce. CWA Europe are in the ideal position to help any company who wishes to expand their online business internationally.
The competition is backed by the Government of Andalucia, the Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Business People, Malaga. The representative of the Andalucian government, Maria Gamez, said that this is an "initiative with perfect timing" because it motivates companies to "get up do date in technology" and not to fall behind. For Maria Gamez this implementation "is not an option but a necessity to generate business".
The “Conquering The Web” competition will award the following prize valued at €15,000 to the winning company:
Ecommerce & Promotion
Ecommerce website with customised design in three languges – English, Spanish and German, SEO friendly, with an excellent easy to use content management system
Domain and hosting for one year
100 e-mail accounts
Google Adwords campaign in three languges – English, Spanish and German for 3 months, including Google Analytics
Telephony supplied by partner Telcom BS
One VoIP system with a virtual PBX, 10 phone extensions, several phone numbers, 2 of them in any European cities.
100 euros per month for phone costs.
Aselex Technology – Legal Assistance for Online Business
The winner will have legal advice to adapt the company to Internet laws and all technical assistance necessary.
One of the Spanish newspapers who have covered the launch of “Conquering The Web” gives the flavour of how ecommerce is currently in Andalucia.
“Internet in Andalucia seems each time more like the land of the pioneers that Hollywood did so many movies about with caravans and cowboys. Conquering the web, like the legendary wild west, is now not to be missed by any Andalucian company serious about doing business.”
